Phantasma

"Phantasma" by Kaylie Smith Book Review

*minimal spoilers ahead*

I never thought I'd be drawn to paranormal romance, but Kaylie Smith's Phantasma has converted me. This spicy tale of a necromancer and a phantom had me hooked from start to finish.

As a newcomer to Smith's writing, I was impressed by her ability to craft a suspenseful narrative that made sense from beginning to end. Her foreshadowing was spot on, and her vivid descriptions of the hell worlds were eerily captivating.

One area I felt could be explored further was Ophelia's thought process and experiences during the trials. I would have loved to delve deeper into her inner world. On a separate note, I must say that I adore the name Ophelia - it's a beautiful choice for the main character!

The plot twist regarding Blackwell took me by surprise, and I didn't piece together the clues until right before the reveal. Perhaps that's because I was too invested in the complex relationship between the characters. Either way, it was a thrilling moment that added depth to the story.

"Phantasma" by Kaylie Smith -- Four and a half stars

Overall, I'm a fan of Smith's writing style, and I'm excited to explore more of her work. If you're looking for a paranormal romance that will keep you on the edge of your seat, Phantasma is definitely worth checking out.
