Hexed
I've just devoured the final book in Emily McIntire's enchanting “A Never After” series! Emily is a masterful storyteller, creating intricate tales that captivate and inspire.
"Hexed” was one of the longer installments in the series, but every moment was pure magic. (I loved how the main character practiced modern spirituality/witchcraft/energetic work!) I'm consistently impressed by Emily's ability to reimagine beloved fairytales, expertly flipping perspectives and adding depth to familiar, usually villainous characters.
The romance was scorching hot, with sex scenes that were both steamy and emotionally resonant. The developed storylines and character arcs were also notable, showcasing Emily's skill at crafting complex, engaging narratives.
If I have one criticism, it's that the series' formula became slightly predictable after five books. However, this didn't detract from my overall enjoyment of “Hexed,” which remained a strong, compelling novel.
I must confess that it was Emily's book dedications that initially drew me to this series. Her acknowledgments spoke directly to my soul, addressing themes of mental health, self-care, and perseverance. It's clear that Emily understands the human experience in a way that's both deeply relatable and profoundly inspiring.
“Hexed” dedication: “For anyone who’s felt unseen.”
Emily has solidified her place as a must-read author for me, and I'm excited to explore more of her works in the future. If you're a fan of creative, adult retellings of fairytales, do yourself a favor and dive into her “A Never After” series – you won't regret it!
